Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush scored twice within three minutes as Manchester City came from behind to defeat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in their final preseason friendly on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea.
Atletico Madrid initially took the lead late in the first half when Jorge Dominguez capitalized on a corner that City failed to clear. Despite City dominating early play under new manager Enzo Maresca, players including Tijjani Reijnders, Josko Gvardiol, and Savinho missed scoring opportunities.
City's persistent pressure paid off in the 57th minute when Marmoush equalized, assisted by Antoine Semenyo, who skillfully beat his marker to deliver the cross. Marmoush then added a second goal shortly after, securing the victory for Manchester City.
Looking ahead, Manchester City will face Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley next Sunday, August 16th, 2026, while Atletico Madrid will start their La Liga season at home against Malaga on August 19th.
