At All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Grand Slam Mexico event, Andrade El Idolo secured a spot in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In, a qualifier for the AEW World Championship. However, shortly after, AEW Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) returned to AEW programming and ambushed Andrade, leaving him bloodied.
MJF declared his intention to enter the qualifying match as the second entrant. The winner of the Casino Gauntlet match will earn a shot at the AEW World Championship.
Following the attack, Andrade El Idolo posted a picture on social media showing a brutal cut on his head. He stated he may be out of the ring for "a few days or weeks." Andrade also mentioned he had not been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam but fulfilled professional commitments with two shows in Canada alongside MLP.
Andrade El Idolo has a history of competing internationally, including appearances at New Japan Pro-Wrestling events such as the one at Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
