Chinese home appliance maker Midea Group has experienced a significant surge in sales of its portable air conditioners in Europe during the first half of 2026. From January through June, the company shipped 200,000 no-installation, portable units, doubling the total shipments for the entire year of 2025.

The rise in demand is attributed to the sweltering summer conditions across Europe, with Midea's PortaSplit model gaining popularity for its ease of use. The shipments originated from Midea's facilities in Guangzhou, China.

This growth highlights the increasing acceptance and demand for Chinese-made cooling appliances in the European market.
