On Sunday, August 10th, 2026, President Donald Trump announced via a Truth Social post that Will Scharf, currently the White House staff secretary, will become the Assistant to the President and White House Counsel effective September 1st. Scharf will replace David Warrington, who Trump noted has done an outstanding job and will be moving to the private sector.
