DiJonai Carrington, guard for the Chicago Sky, was allowed to play in Monday night’s game against the Seattle Storm despite being ejected on Saturday during a game against the Indiana Fever. Carrington received a Flagrant 2 foul after smacking Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham in the face, which led to her ejection following an official review.

The WNBA has remained silent on any disciplinary measures against Carrington, allowing her to check into the game with 5:21 left in the first quarter. The crowd at the Seattle Storm game cheered loudly as Carrington entered, though it was unclear if the reaction was for her or for Seattle’s rookie center Awa Fam.

During the incident on Saturday, Cunningham had a breakaway toward the hoop with Carrington attempting to prevent an easy two points for Indiana. The Fever won the game 90-86.

Carrington has a history of on-court controversies. In the 2024 season, while playing for the Connecticut Sun, she mocked rookie Caitlin Clark for flopping and called Fever supporters "the nastiest fans in the W" after receiving racist abuse online. Additionally, during the 2024 WNBA Playoffs, Carrington struck Clark in the eye while defending a pass, resulting in Clark having a black eye.

Regarding claims about "white privilege" in the foul assessment, Carrington has stated, "I've never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege (that was your assumption). Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych," and added, "Furthermore, I'm the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on" such matters.
