Lucy Davis, best known for her role as Dawn Tinsley on the UK version of The Office, has announced she has incurable stage 4 breast cancer. In an Instagram post on August 11th, 2026, Davis revealed she was diagnosed one-and-a-half years ago and that the cancer has spread to her bones, including her spine, right hip, and ribs.

"The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo," Davis said. She described the initial sign as a small, hard spot rather than a lump, emphasizing the importance of getting any unusual changes checked promptly.

Davis, who has also appeared in Shaun of the Dead, Wonder Woman, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, said she is now trying to bring as much fun into the rest of her life as possible. "I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there's a lot I have learned from it, and I'm grateful for that," she added.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia after prostate cancer, with more than 20,000 diagnoses annually. Stage 4 breast cancer, also known as metastatic or advanced breast cancer, indicates the disease has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body.

Davis concluded her message with well wishes for others on similar journeys, saying, "For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well."
