Hong Kong authorities launched a search on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in waters west of the city for a man believed to have fallen overboard from a sightseeing vessel traveling between Shekou in Shenzhen and the Hong Kong–Macau–Zhuhai Bridge.
The cruise operator reported the incident around 3pm after crew members realized the passenger was missing upon returning to shore. A review of onboard security footage suggested the man fell into the sea during the voyage.
In response, marine police, fire services, and helicopters were deployed to Tuen Mun’s Hau Hoi Wan, near the Lung Kwu Tan power station, to assist in the search along the maritime boundary.
The Hong Kong–Macau–Zhuhai Bridge, spanning approximately 55 kilometers, is a major regional landmark and popular sightseeing attraction. Cruises typically last between 120 to 180 minutes, during which passengers are allowed on the open deck.
As of 7pm on August 11, search operations were ongoing with no sign of the missing passenger.
