Three suspects were detained early Saturday morning, August 10th, 2026, following the brutal torture of a sleeping victim on a farm in South Africa. The suspects were handed over to South African police after being detained by the private armed security group ECHO-1 Tactical Solutions, which acted on a tip about criminal activity an hour from Pretoria.

ECHO-1 reported that although they allegedly found stolen property with the suspects, convincing local police that a crime had occurred was challenging. A breakthrough with one suspect led security personnel to a farmhouse where they discovered the victim hog-tied on his bed, bleeding profusely. The victim had been beaten, stabbed, and tortured for an hour.

Such farm attacks in South Africa often involve severe violence, including beatings, mutilations, and execution-style killings. Survivors shared their experiences with the Daily Caller during a June 2025 investigation into claims of genocide against the white South African minority, the Afrikaners. Broodryk, speaking during a ride-along with AfriForum, noted that Afrikaners are disproportionately affected by these attacks and that the brutality against white victims appears particularly severe.

An executive order cited in the report states, “This Act follows countless government policies designed to dismantle equal opportunity in employment, education, and business, and hateful rhetoric and government actions fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners.”

In response to the ongoing crisis, Ernst Roets, head of Lex Libertas, said on Wednesday that the White Cross project aims to “make the crisis in South Africa unignorable” and to channel that awareness into support for sustainable solutions. Advocates are preparing a vigil featuring 3,000 crosses in front of the White House in the United States next month to raise awareness about farm attacks.
