A Kentucky middle school teacher, Sadie Flores, was arrested on Friday, August 10, 2026, after being accused of grooming a student. Flores, who is 25 years old and employed at Graves County Middle School, was charged with grooming under Kentucky House Bill 4, which took effect on July 15, 2026.

The allegations were initially reported to the Graves County School District Office, which promptly notified the Graves County Sheriff’s Department. Flores was interviewed by detectives from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) before her arrest and is currently held at an out-of-county detention center.

Investigators have conducted interviews and seized electronic records as part of the ongoing investigation. According to WKYT, under the new law, grooming a minor is classified as a misdemeanor, with the charge escalating to a felony if the minor involved is under 12 years old.

Purcell, a law enforcement official, described grooming as actions where an adult seeks to isolate a child, buys gifts for the child, or engages in private communications without parental knowledge. School officials emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain their highest priority and immediately reported the matter to authorities for investigation.
