A Kentucky middle school teacher, Sadie M. Flores, 25, of Mayfield, was arrested on Friday afternoon, August 7th, 2026, and charged with grooming a minor, a Class D felony under a new Kentucky law that took effect on July 15th, 2026. Flores, an employee at Graves County Middle School, is accused of having an improper relationship with a minor student in the district, according to the Graves County Sheriff's Office.

The allegations were initially reported to Graves County Schools, whose administrators promptly notified the Graves County Sheriff's Office, leading to a criminal investigation. Detectives conducted interviews, seized electronic records, and took other investigative measures during the inquiry.

Flores was interviewed before being taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. She was booked into the Graves County Restricted Custody Center and later transferred to an out-of-county detention facility.

The grooming charge arises from a Kentucky law enacted on July 15th, which establishes a felony offense targeting adults accused of cultivating inappropriate relationships with minors before any sexual abuse occurs.

A Graves County Middle School spokesperson stated, "District administration was made aware of an allegation involving a teacher at Graves County Middle School. School officials immediately reported this information to the Graves County Sheriff's Department for investigation." They added, "We have since been informed that, as a result of that investigation, charges have been filed against this teacher. We take any allegation involving the safety of a child or the professional conduct of an employee extremely seriously and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and the appropriate authorities."

Authorities continue to investigate the case.
