A Kentucky middle school teacher, Sadie M. Flores, 25, of Mayfield, was arrested on Friday, August 7th, 2026, and charged with grooming a minor, a Class D felony under a new Kentucky law that took effect on July 15th, 2026. Flores is accused of having an improper relationship with a minor student at Graves County Middle School, according to the Graves County Sheriff's Office.

The allegations were initially reported to Graves County Schools, whose administrators promptly notified the Graves County Sheriff's Office, triggering a criminal investigation. Detectives conducted interviews, seized electronic records, and employed other investigative measures as part of their inquiry.

Flores was interviewed before being taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. and was booked into the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being transferred to an out-of-county detention facility.

The grooming charge arises from the recent Kentucky law designed to criminalize adults who cultivate inappropriate relationships with minors before any sexual abuse occurs.

Graves County Middle School officials stated, "District administration was made aware of an allegation involving a teacher at Graves County Middle School. School officials immediately reported this information to the Graves County Sheriff's Department for investigation." They also emphasized, "We take any allegation involving the safety of a child or the professional conduct of an employee extremely seriously and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and the appropriate authorities."
