A Kentucky middle school teacher, Sadie M. Flores, 25, of Mayfield, was arrested on Friday, August 7th, 2026, and charged with grooming a minor, a Class D felony under a new Kentucky law that took effect on July 15th, 2026. Flores, an employee at Graves County Middle School, is accused of having an improper relationship with a minor student in the district.

The allegations were initially reported to Graves County Schools, whose administrators promptly notified the Graves County Sheriff's Office, triggering a criminal investigation. Detectives conducted interviews, seized electronic records, and employed other investigative methods.

Flores was interviewed before being taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. and was booked into the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being transferred to an out-of-county detention facility.

The grooming charge is based on the recent Kentucky law designed to criminalize adults who cultivate inappropriate relationships with minors before any sexual abuse occurs.

Graves County Middle School stated, "District administration was made aware of an allegation involving a teacher at Graves County Middle School. School officials immediately reported this information to the Graves County Sheriff's Department for investigation." They also emphasized the seriousness of the matter and their cooperation with law enforcement.
