President Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for Mike Lindell, founder of My Pillow, who is running for governor of Minnesota, hours before the state's primary polls closed on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Mike Lindell deserves a BIG WIN IN MINNESOTA today. Nobody has worked harder, and given up so much, in fighting for free and fair Elections.” He urged voters to "Go out, NOW, and VOTE for Mike Lindell for Governor," adding that Lindell “will not let you down.”
Lindell is seeking the Republican nomination to succeed the outgoing Minnesota governor, who dropped his bid for a third term in January amid a statewide fraud controversy. Lindell faces a crowded GOP field, including state Representative Kendall Qualls, an Army veteran and business leader, who trails Lindell by 11 points in recent numbers.
Lindell entered the race in December 2025, months after a federal judge ruled he defamed voting technology company Smartmatic by falsely claiming its machines helped rig the 2020 presidential election. The My Pillow founder, who stepped down as CEO last week to focus on his campaign, has maintained that Trump, not former President Biden, won the 2020 election.
On the Democratic side, Senator Amy Klobuchar is favored to win the general election in November.
