Trump says Israel ‘happy’ with Hamas deal, despite ‘skepticism’

President Trump said Friday that Israel is pleased with the Board of Peace’s agreement with Hamas to disarm the militant group in Gaza, despite its apparent skepticism of the framework.

“We do have an understanding with Israel,” Trump told reporters at his Cabinet meeting at Camp David. “Israel is very happy about it.

“Most people said that would be a deal that would be undoable,” he continued. “Will it go through its ups and downs? It’s a very complex situation over there.

Nobody ever thought that would be possible to disarm Hamas,” the president said, calling it a “big step for the Middle East.”
