India and Japan have agreed to jointly develop stealth technology aimed at making Indian warships harder to detect. This collaboration involves equipping Indian naval vessels with Japan’s Unified Complex Radio Antenna (Unicorn) system, which reduces radar visibility by integrating multiple antennas into a single compact structure, minimizing exposed surfaces that reflect radar signals.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of the project following discussions with Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi in New Delhi. Modi described the agreement as the "first-ever co-development project between India and Japan," stating that it would "open a new chapter in our defence technology partnership. Going forward, we will jointly develop defence technologies that will strengthen regional peace, maritime security and a rules-based order."

Analysts interpret this move as a reflection of growing strategic trust between India and Japan, as both countries seek closer security cooperation and reduce their dependence on the United States.
