A 20-year-old Indonesian woman, Keiko Altaira Hanafi, was fatally stabbed in her flat in Hamamatsu, central Japan, police reported on Monday, July 6, 2026. She was found in critical condition by a police officer at around 11:40 a.m. in the residence she shared with her parents and later died at a hospital.

According to police, a neighbor made an emergency call after hearing a woman scream next door. Authorities also reported that a man dressed in black left the flat shortly after the incident.

Shortly thereafter, a man was hit and killed by a train on the JR Tokaido Line. The train driver witnessed a person wearing black clothes jump a fence and enter the tracks. The stabbing took place in a residential area approximately 500 meters west of JR Maisaka Station in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.

A witness in his 70s said he saw a trail of blood from the doorstep of the flat to a nearby car park. Police are investigating whether the man killed by the train is connected to the stabbing.
