Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has accused top Democrats of prioritizing "power" over principle in their response to Senate candidate Graham Platner's controversies. Bongino stated on "The Ingraham Angle" that many Democrats only distanced themselves from Platner after concluding he could no longer win his race, asserting, "There were no principles involved here at all."
Bongino described Platner as "an acquisition tool for more power for this collectivist communist left," adding that Platner was useful only as long as he served their agenda. "The left are the anti-anti-communist. They're just against us and whatever we stand for to advance their communist agenda, and this guy was a tool that's no longer sharp for them," Bongino said.
Platner has faced multiple allegations of sexual impropriety. According to a Washington Post report, about 24 hours after an initial accusation, Platner was accused of removing condoms during sex with his ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield despite her explicit request to use them.
Bongino and other Republicans have criticized Democrats for their sudden change of stance regarding Platner. The allegations and political fallout have led to calls from figures such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for Platner to drop out of the race.
