Prosecutors have charged five former Albany, Georgia police officers for allegedly misusing data from the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system.

On June 25, following an internal audit of its automatic plate reader system, the Albany Police Department requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate several officers. The audit reportedly found that these officers repeatedly accessed stored license plate information for reasons unrelated to official police duties.

The five former officers arrested are Tytianna Davis, 27; Jade Jackson, 32; Nicholas Richardson, 30; Brittney Smith, 23; and Issac Whitus, 24, according to the GBI. Charges vary, with Davis facing five counts of misuse, Richardson 11 counts, Jackson and Whitus two counts each, and Smith one count. All were booked into the Dougherty County Jail.

The Albany Police Department no longer employs the accused officers. The department emphasized its commitment to public trust and high service standards, stating it will strengthen oversight, reinforce employee training, and review policies governing law enforcement technology to ensure lawful and ethical use solely for legitimate public safety purposes.
