Palm Beach International Airport officially changed its name to Donald J. Trump International Airport on July 9, 2026. This renaming follows legislation signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in March, authorizing the change. The state's Republican Party praised the move, calling Florida "honored to be home to this landmark tribute" to the former president.
The Federal Aviation Authority informed The Hill that airline travelers will continue to see the airport's three-letter code "PBI" on flight documents until the International Air Transport Association updates it to "DJT" in August. The airport has indicated that updates to signage, branding, and other public-facing materials will be implemented in phases.
Officials confirmed that the renaming will not affect airline operations, routes, or schedules. The Palm Beach County Department of Airports estimates the project will cost approximately $5.5 million, with the remaining funds covered by the Department of Airports’ operating budget and capital improvement program.
This name change is part of broader efforts during the Trump administration to rename buildings and landmarks after the former president.
