On July 9, 2026, the Palm Beach International Airport in South Florida was officially renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. Signs bearing the former name have been removed, and new signage is being installed. Airport officials noted on Facebook that the transformation will take several weeks, during which both the classic and new branding will coexist within the terminal.
The first plane to arrive at the newly renamed airport was "Trump Force One," a Boeing 757 owned by The Trump Organisation, arriving shortly after 5 a.m. The airport is frequently used by the Trump family when visiting President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in nearby Palm Beach. Additionally, a stretch of road connecting the airport to the estate has been renamed Donald J.
Eric Trump expressed support for the renaming on X, stating, “There is no person who has done more for Florida and our country and no one more deserving of this incredible honour.”
Among travelers, reactions varied. Keegan Collett, departing the airport for Cincinnati, said he was surprised by the new name and added that while he doesn't believe Trump deserves the honor, he was not particularly bothered by it. He remarked, “There’s bigger things. I feel like it’s just more of a distraction. Why even worry about it?”
Separately, in Dandridge, Tennessee, a ceremony took place to rename the I-40 Bridge in East Tennessee to the Donald J., attended by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, US Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, and Representative Tim Burchett.
Since returning to the White House, Donald Trump has taken multiple steps to place his name and image in official spaces, representing a departure from traditional American political practices.
