World number one men's golfer Scottie Scheffler missed the cut at the Scottish Open on July 10, 2026, ending his streak of making cuts for nearly four years. Scheffler finished with a two-over 72 on Friday, missing the 36-hole cut by two shots after missing two key putts in the final three holes, including a six-foot putt for par.

"Got off to a poor start, and after that I didn't really get it close enough to give myself a bunch of looks," Scheffler said. He finished at even-par 140 and is already looking ahead to his title defense at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in England, a links course he has not previously played.

Scheffler noted, "For whatever reason, I just haven't played my best golf on this course," but expressed pride in his overall consistency this year. "But I don't think I finished outside of the top 20 or something like that many times this year. I'm definitely proud of the consistency, and wish I had a couple of days over the weekend to make up some ground."

This marks the first time Scheffler has missed a cut since 2022, when he also missed the cut at the Scottish Open a week before the Open Championship. The previous record for consecutive cuts made was held by Byron Nelson at 113 during an era when players had to finish in the money, typically the top 20.

Scheffler will now focus on the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, where he is the defending champion.
