Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York City this September, despite repeated calls from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for his arrest.

In an interview with "Hannity" following a White House meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, Netanyahu stated, "I'm going to New York. I'm going to speak the truth in front of this hate-spewing elected official who's pitting one group of New Yorkers against the others."

Mayor Mamdani has long criticized Netanyahu over alleged atrocities committed by Israeli forces during military campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon. Mamdani's calls for Netanyahu's arrest are based on an ICC warrant, which Netanyahu has dismissed.

Meanwhile, President Trump has criticized Israel’s ongoing strikes in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, stating "too many people are being killed." Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has also joined Mamdani in calling for Netanyahu's arrest.

Netanyahu has condemned these accusations, referring to the ICC warrant as "bogus" and rejecting the allegations against him.
