Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, despite repeated calls from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to arrest him if he visits the city.

In an interview with "Hannity" following a White House meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, Netanyahu stated, "I'm going to New York. I'm going to speak the truth in front of this hate-spewing elected official who's pitting one group of New Yorkers against the others."

Mayor Mamdani has long criticized Netanyahu for alleged atrocities committed by Israeli forces during military campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon. New York City's former Mayor Bill de Blasio has also supported Mamdani's calls for Netanyahu's arrest.

Meanwhile, President Trump has criticized Israel's ongoing strikes in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, stating, "too many people are being killed."

Netanyahu has dismissed the arrest warrant as "bogus" and has expressed strong opposition to the accusations, emphasizing the hostility he faces from his critics.
