The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed former All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel to a one-year contract worth up to $7 million, ESPN reported on Thursday, July 31, 2026. This move comes as the team faces a setback with wide receiver Ricky Pearsall suffering a knee injury during early training camp.

Samuel began his NFL career with the 49ers after being selected in the second round of the 2019 draft from South Carolina. He spent six seasons with the team, helping them reach two Super Bowls and earning All-Pro honors in 2021 with 1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns.

In 2025, Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round draft pick, where he recorded 72 catches for 727 yards and five touchdowns last season.

The 49ers hope Samuel’s return will help fill the void left by Pearsall’s injury and bolster their receiving options as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
