An explosion near a summer cafe in Moscow on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, resulted in at least three deaths and 15 injuries of varying severity, according to Moscow police. The blast occurred around 8:10 p.m. near the Italian cafe-restaurant Balzi Rossi, located in the wider city centre of the Russian capital.
Police informed the state news agency RIA Novosti that investigators and forensic specialists were present at the site. While the official cause of the explosion was not confirmed by authorities, the Baza Telegram channel reported that a gas blast in the cafe's kitchens was responsible.
Images shared on Russian Telegram channels showed fire engines and ambulances responding to the incident.
