The House Ethics Committee declined to say on Friday, July 31st, 2026, whether it will investigate Republican Ohio Rep. Max Miller in connection with domestic violence allegations made by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. Moreno accused Miller of domestic abuse against her and their two-year-old daughter and has filed restraining orders.

When asked by the Daily Caller News Foundation about a potential investigation, the Ethics Committee responded with "No comment."

Moreno alleges that Miller caused their two-year-old daughter to suffer a fractured collarbone accompanied by a bruise resembling a handprint, which she claims was inflicted, according to CBS News. Additionally, Moreno filed a restraining order against Miller on Thursday, alleging that he physically grabbed one of her attorneys, Andrew Zashin, during a recent court hearing.

House Speaker Mike Johnson stated in May that he does not "get involved in the personal lives of members" and reiterated during a July 21 press conference that he does not involve himself in investigations.

A spokesperson for Moreno, Reagan McCarthy, said, “Senator Moreno’s top priority is the safety and well-being of his daughter and granddaughter. While he does not litigate these matters in the media or respond to baseless public attacks, he will do whatever it takes to ensure a just outcome for his family.”
