Ukrainian drone strikes overnight into Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, killed at least five people across Russia and damaged industrial sites as well as a warehouse belonging to Russia’s largest online marketplace, Wildberries, local officials reported.

Wildberries, often described as Russia’s answer to Amazon, has seen over a dozen of its depots targeted by Ukrainian drones in under two weeks. This campaign is part of Kyiv’s effort to disrupt Moscow's economy and war capabilities.

Russian air defenses reportedly shot down 635 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over occupied Crimea and the Black and Azov Seas, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow. The ministry did not disclose how many drones were launched or successfully struck targets.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian air force stated that Russia launched 133 drones during the night, with 24 hitting targets in Ukraine.

Specific incidents include a Ukrainian drone strike on a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region, approximately 800 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border, as confirmed by local Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev. In the Saratov region east of Samara, two people were killed when a Ukrainian drone struck a residential building, according to local Governor Roman Busargin.

In Russia’s Bashkortostan region, local Governor Radiy Khabirov said air defenses repelled a large-scale drone attack on industrial facilities in the city of Ufa. Further northwest, in the Udmurt Republic, three civilians died and two were wounded in a Ukrainian drone strike, according to acting regional head Olga Abramova.

These events highlight the intensifying drone warfare between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides sustaining attacks and counterattacks.
