Justice Thomas Bradley, who has served on Queensland's Supreme Court since 2018 and moved to the Court of Appeal in 2025, will be sworn in as the new governor of Queensland on Sunday, November 1, 2026. He will succeed Dr Jeannette Young, who has held the position for five years.
At a press conference on Monday, August 3, 2026, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli described Justice Bradley as a "born and raised Queenslander" who "understands the decentralised nature of the state." He added, "To have someone who has dedicated their life to service in one way or another is deeply honouring."
Justice Bradley's appointment marks a continuation of dedicated public service in Queensland's highest ceremonial office.
