Australian underworld figure Sam Amine, 39, is awaiting sentencing in the NSW District Court after pleading guilty to brokering the supply of drugs and a firearm. Court documents reveal how Amine organised the sale, with his nephew physically handing over a gun and more than 1 kilogram of drugs to an undercover police officer.

The operation began in April 2024 when an undercover operative, using the encrypted app Threema under the handle "Kraken," contacted Amine. Amine described the 500 grams of MDMA on offer as "light but very strong," according to a statement of facts tendered to court.

Two days after the initial message, police surveillance captured the undercover officer receiving the firearm in exchange for $28,000. Following a $48,000 exchange, police swooped on an associate named Allouche, who was charged, and Amine was arrested shortly thereafter.

Amine remains wanted in Fiji over a record drug haul. His past includes being kidnapped and tortured in 2021 for a $3 million ransom, linked to his associations within Sydney's gangland milieu.
