LIV Golf has secured a lead investor to replace the funding previously provided by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which announced in April it would stop financing the league at the end of 2026. The agreement with the unnamed investor has been approved by the LIV Golf board, according to CEO Scott O’Neil.
O’Neil stated that the league will continue operating with players becoming majority equity holders. Multiple reports indicate that LIV Golf plans to return next season with 10 events, split evenly between international locations and the United States.
Since its launch in 2022, the PIF reportedly invested $5 billion into LIV Golf. The league has faced challenges competing with established tours like the PGA Tour and DP World Tour amid the funding withdrawal.
