A 23-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were found dead at a property on King Street in Charleville, Queensland's south-west, in what police suspect is a murder-suicide. Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a serious assault at 6pm on Tuesday, August 5th, 2026.
A toddler present at the property was taken to Charleville Hospital in a stable condition with a minor leg laceration. Authorities issued an emergency declaration shortly after the incident, which was revoked about eight hours later. No members of the public or police officers were injured during the event.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
