At least 300 children have been killed in Gaza in the roughly 300 days since a ceasefire was announced on October 10, 2025, averaging one child death per day, according to the United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF.

Hundreds more children have been severely wounded during this period. UNICEF urged parties involved in a proposed US-led peace plan to turn their pledges into concrete action to protect children.

"A ceasefire that leaves an average of one child dead each and every day is failing children," said Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF regional director for the Middle East and North Africa. "Children in Gaza are still waiting for the end to the violence they were promised."

Families in Gaza are now confined to about a third of the enclave, sheltering amid destroyed buildings, rubble, and uncleared waste.

Since October 2023, ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of more than 73,300 Palestinians, according to health authorities in Gaza.

In a recent strike on August 2 in western Gaza City, residents recovered the remains of an unborn baby after an attack killed a pregnant woman, her husband, and their five-year-old son.
