Some of Taylor Swift’s songs have been removed from videos posted on social media by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, ending efforts to mock the singer.

A video posted on August 3 featuring the US president and first lady Melania Trump watching fireworks was shared on TikTok with Swift’s song "August." The accompanying text read, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

Trump’s campaign also published a post mocking Swift over the title of her 2012 album, Red, stating, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican party?” and suggesting parody track titles.

Other Trump-related social media accounts have used Swift’s music in campaign videos, many of which have since been muted. These accounts have also used songs by artists such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kenny Loggins, all of whom publicly objected to the use of their music.

Ariana Grande responded to the White House’s use of her music over a montage of ICE agents detaining people, posting, “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”

Trump had previously attacked Swift, who endorsed then-Democratic vice-president Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Swift’s Eras tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time, generating about $2.2 billion worldwide, according to Pollstar.
