The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) announced on Sunday, August 10, 2026, that it intercepted two aircraft over Bedminster, New Jersey. The interception occurred while former President Donald Trump watched the LIV Golf Bedminster tournament at his New Jersey golf course.
According to NORAD's statement, “F-16s intercepted multiple general aviation aircraft today that violated temporary flight restrictions over Bedminster, NJ.” All aircraft were safely escorted out of the restricted area. NORAD advised pilots to check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMS) and FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions.
The First Air Force confirmed via a post on social platform X that two aircraft were involved. It remains unclear whether the aircraft entered the restricted airspace by mistake.
Trump attended the tournament's final round at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster alongside nine-time major champion Gary Player and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, a former LIV Golf governor. Joaquín Niemann won the tournament with a 2-under 69, securing a three-shot victory and marking his ninth career win in the last three years, according to ESPN.
