China has solidified its status as Bangladesh's top power investor, contributing more than 50% of the total investment in the South Asian nation's renewable energy sector, according to the Centre for Policy Dialogue. This surge in investment, which has reached $1.18 billion, is driven by growing momentum in solar and wind projects.

The increased Chinese investment comes as Bangladesh faces significant energy shortages that have led to factory closures and financial difficulties. China now accounts for just over one-third of all foreign investment in Bangladesh's power industry, underscoring its expanding influence in the sector.

This development highlights the critical role of renewables in Bangladesh's energy landscape and China's growing footprint in Asia's power markets.
