Hong Kong authorities have launched an online consent system for children’s seasonal flu vaccinations under a school outreach program, allowing parents to submit consent forms digitally starting Monday, August 11, 2026.
The Centre for Health Protection announced on Tuesday that the digital consent system will be integrated into the eHealth mobile application, the city’s electronic health record platform, for the upcoming school year. Dr Chim Pak-wing, principal medical and health officer of the centre’s emergency response and programme management branch, said, “Parents no longer need to manually fill in the information item by item, saving a lot of time and avoiding human error.”
The Department of Health will begin issuing unique QR codes to schools starting Wednesday, August 13, 2026, for distribution to parents. These QR codes will be activated on Monday, August 18, 2026, enabling parents to scan them via the eHealth app to complete and submit electronic consent forms for their children’s flu vaccinations.
Dr Leung Yiu-hong, branch head, emphasized that the QR codes are unique to each school and valid only for students enrolled there, urging parents not to share the codes with others.
This initiative aims to streamline the vaccination consent process and enhance efficiency in the city’s public health efforts.
