Police have dropped all charges against Ahmed Al Ahmed, the hero of the Bondi terror attack, who was accused of assaulting and intimidating his father. The 44-year-old was charged in June over an incident that allegedly occurred in March at a home in Bankstown, south-west Sydney.

Previously pleading not guilty to domestic violence assault and intimidation, Mr Al Ahmed's charges were withdrawn on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, in Bankstown Local Court after an agreement was reached with his defence team. He will adhere to an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) for 12 months, which defence lawyer Mohamed Sakr said was accepted without admissions.

Mr Al Ahmed, who was shot multiple times during the Bondi shooting, expressed feeling "successful" outside court following the decision. He thanked his lawyer and stated his focus is now on recovering from injuries sustained during the December attack, adding, "I still have a good team of doctors who look after me."

His defence team emphasized that his presumption of innocence is maintained, his dignity preserved, and they look forward to his future.
