The family of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, has released a statement ahead of a week-long preliminary hearing scheduled from Monday through Friday. The hearing will decide whether Tyler Robinson will stand trial for Kirk's murder.

Kirk's widow Erika, his parents Robert and Kathryn, and sister Mary expressed the profound impact of his death on their lives and those of his children, stating, "Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children."

They thanked the public for their prayers and kindness but requested privacy during the judicial process and their grief.

During the hearing, new footage, evidence, and witness testimony were presented. Law enforcement shared surveillance footage reportedly showing Robinson on the Utah school campus approximately four times on the day of the shooting, including hours after Kirk's death.

Kirk was shot while addressing a crowd under a tent on 10 September as part of his American Comeback tour of college campuses, where he invited attendees to debate him.

Chris Bagley, a law enforcement witness, testified that he heard a rifle shot from a building above the scene but also noted suspicious evidence that led him to question whether Robinson is the correct suspect.

The preliminary hearing serves to determine if prosecutors have sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
