Brittany Clark, 31, died from severe injuries after a rare alligator attack while swimming with her boyfriend, Chance Allison, in Florida’s Econlockhatchee River on June 28, 2026. The autopsy report, published on Thursday, revealed that Clark struggled for her life before succumbing to the brutal mauling.

According to the 11-page autopsy report, Clark suffered near complete traumatic amputations of her left arm at the shoulder and her right forearm. The report also noted teeth marks on her left shoulder blade and collarbone. Emergency responders transported Clark to a hospital, but she died from her injuries.

Local officials and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed the attack and said Allison desperately tried to free Clark from the alligator’s mouth. Following the incident, the FWC removed and euthanized two alligators from the river, measuring 12 and 13 feet respectively.

Alligator attacks on humans are rare in Florida, which is home to an estimated 1.3 million alligators. The FWC reported an average of about eight unprovoked alligator bites annually and only 26 fatalities from such attacks since 1948.

The attack occurred in Seminole County’s Little Big Econ State Forest, highlighting the risks of wildlife encounters in natural habitats.
