RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — On Sunday, August 4th, 2026, authorities arrested a 38-year-old man who was observed walking the grounds of President Donald Trump’s California golf course and appeared to be monitoring security preparations two days before the president's scheduled visit.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the man was taking photos and videos and was found carrying a 16-round magazine loaded with ammunition in his pocket. He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
Following the arrest, law enforcement conducted a search of the suspect’s home on Monday, uncovering a large cache of firearms, magazines, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks containing what were described as “concerning statements.”
The sheriff’s department announced the arrest on Tuesday, coinciding with President Trump’s arrival for a fundraising dinner at his golf club near Los Angeles. Officials emphasized that there is "no credible threat to our communities."
