Murphy acknowledged that Iran has outmaneuvered the U.S. in the conflict and expressed readiness to back any deal that would end the war and reopen the strait, despite its flaws. "Yes, I will support a deal to end this war and reopen the strait," he said, adding that the only available deal at this point is "a terrible, bad deal."

Last week, Trump administration officials expressed optimism about reaching a breakthrough with Iran regarding the operation of the strait, which could pave the way for nuclear talks aimed at permanently ending the war. However, Iranian officials complicated the situation by outlining preconditions for reopening the strait, including lifting the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, paying war damages, unfreezing Iranian assets, lifting sanctions on Tehran, and ending the U.S. military operation.

Murphy stressed the urgency of ending the war, stating, "The war needs to end because every day that the war continues, America gets weaker, Iran gets stronger, and people here in the United States get screwed, as prices go up, and up, and up."

While he will continue to vote to end the war, Murphy also indicated support for replenishing military munitions depleted by the conflict once the war concludes. "I am not going to support funding to keep this war going," he said. "But if the war comes to an end, if the president ends this war, then, yes, of course, I and my colleagues will be ready to provide the funding to replenish the stores of munitions that have been spent."
