Some of Taylor Swift’s songs have been removed from videos posted on social media by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, silencing efforts to mock the singer. A video posted on August 3rd featuring President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks was shared on TikTok with Swift’s song "August." The post included the caption, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

Trump’s campaign also published a post mocking Swift over her 2012 album "Red," suggesting parody track titles and stating, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican party?” Several other campaign videos that used Swift’s music have since been muted.

Trump-related social media accounts have frequently used songs by pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kenny Loggins as "rage bait." All these artists publicly objected to their music being used. Ariana Grande, for example, posted, “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” after the White House used her music over a montage showing ICE agents detaining people.

Trump had previously attacked Swift, who endorsed then-Democratic vice-president Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Swift’s Eras tour is noted as the highest-grossing tour of all time, generating approximately $2.2 billion worldwide, according to Pollstar.
