Some of Taylor Swift’s songs have been removed from videos posted on social media by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, ending efforts to mock the pop star.

A video posted on August 3rd featuring the US president and first lady Melania Trump watching fireworks was shared on TikTok with Swift’s song "August." The post included the text: “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

Trump’s campaign also published a post mocking Swift over her 2012 album "Red," stating, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican party?” and suggesting parody track titles.

Other Trump-related social media videos had used Swift’s music but several have since been muted. These accounts have also used songs from artists such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kenny Loggins, all of whom publicly objected to their music being used.

Ariana Grande posted, “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” after the White House used her music over a montage showing ICE agents detaining people.

Trump had previously attacked Swift, who endorsed then Democratic vice-president Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” at the time.

Swift’s Eras tour is noted as the highest-grossing tour of all time, generating about $2.2 billion worldwide, according to Pollstar.
