Several of Taylor Swift’s songs have been removed from videos posted on social media by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, halting attempts to use her music to mock the singer. A video posted on August 3, 2026, featuring President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks was shared on TikTok with Swift’s song "August" as the soundtrack. The post’s text read, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

Trump’s campaign also published a post ridiculing Swift over her 2012 album "Red," stating, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican party?” while suggesting parody track titles. Other campaign videos that used Swift’s music have since been muted.

These posts were part of a broader pattern where Trump’s social media accounts used songs from pop stars like Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kenny Loggins as "rage bait." Many of these artists publicly objected to their music being used. For instance, Ariana Grande posted, “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” after the White House used her song over footage of ICE agents detaining people.

Trump had previously criticized Swift, who endorsed then-Democratic vice-president Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Swift’s "Eras" tour is noted as the highest-grossing tour of all time, generating approximately $2.2 billion worldwide, according to Pollstar.
