JAMES, LOUISIANA. THE FIVE STORAGE SITES ARE BAYOU CHOCTAW, WEEKS ISLAND, WEST HACKBERRY IN LOUISIANA AND BRYAN MOUND AND BIG HILL IN TEXAS. THESE FIVE STORAGE SITES ARE ORGANIZED INTO THREE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS & CONNECTED BY DOE PIPELINES TO COMMERCIAL CRUDE OIL PIPELINE NETWORKS AND MARINE TERMINAL FACILITIES FOR DRAW DOWN/ DISTRIBUTION. THE ST. JAMES TERMINAL IS LOCATED ON ABOUT 173 ACRES OF LAND, 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BATON ROUGE, ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. IT IS THE ONLY TERMINAL OWNED BY THE DOE'S STRATEGIC PETROLEUM RESERVES. THE TERMINAL FACILITY HAS TWO DOCKS WHERE LARGE TANKERS UNLOAD CRUDE OIL AND SIX STORAGE TANKS WITH A TOTAL CAPACITY OF 2 MILLION BARRELS. THE TERMINAL CONNECTS VIA PIPELINE TO THE BAYOU CHOCTAW AND WEEKS ISLAND STORAGE SITES.
