At least three people were killed and 15 injured in a bomb attack at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya square near the centre of Moscow on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, according to state media.
The explosion occurred around 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT). Investigators quoted by Tass reported that a woman carrying a homemade explosive device attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped by a security guard.
Witnesses on Telegram said the venue was hosting a private function and described seeing people being carried out covered in blood after the blast. Initial reports suggested the explosion happened inside the restaurant's kitchen, but the restaurant later issued a statement clarifying that everything was fine inside and that the incident occurred outside.
Nearby, dozens of cyclists who had been gathering for an evening ride through the city cancelled their event. Video footage released by Russia's RIA news agency showed heavily armed law enforcement officers securing the scene, which was closed off to the public.
The incident is under investigation.
